VCN ELECTIONS - UPDATES FROM THE DESK OF THE AG. REGISTRAR, VETERINARY COUNCIL OF NIGERIA

Dear Veterinarians,

This is to appreciate you all for the confidence reposed in the current Board Under the leadership of AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju OON, mni so far in enabling us to deliver on our mandate to the team of esteemed Veterinarians both at home and abroad.

You all will recall that progressive veterinarians demanded the digitization of Veterinary activities and this was done by providing several cutting-edge technologies. So far, it's in use and we can only build on that to take our profession to the next level.

As a build-up to this, the current Board also resolved to use an electronic voting system to enable all intending Veterinarians to express their candidature and as well exercise their franchise by casting their votes electronically anywhere in the world.  This of course will save a lot of stress and resources for everyone.

To this end, a timetable was released and it's been followed judiciously to ensure a very credible Election.

Let me say this very loud and clear; the election will be the best in recent times as it is designed to be very independent and we would want ALL electorate to trust the system. It will be absolutely easy to verify if anything goes wrong and whoever is found culpable will be dealt with to the extent that our laws afford us.

There is an independent technical manager and access to every detail was given to me to enable me to direct the process.

So far so good.

The Council wants to reassure you that there will be no undue delay in the release of results and in the event of no technical issues which is not being envisaged will be out within 24 hours as earlier promised.

The prospective candidates should kindly send the names of their agents to help us constitute a WhatsApp group where they can be carried along in the process. Please, send it to my number 08065512728 on or before Monday 20th, January 2025.

Be assured that post-election requests to authenticate the veracity of the process would be welcomed.

Thank you.

Dr. Fadipe Oladotun

The Electoral Umpire.
