CP. AISHATU SPEAKS ON EXCLUSION OF VETERINARY INSTITUTIONS FROM THE INFECTIOUS DISEASE BILL PUBLIC HEARING


My dear colleagues, this is to inform you that the oversight in excluding Veterinary institutions, Agencies and Associations in the Public Hearing on the Infectious Disease Bill has been sorted out with the National Assembly. 

It was a serious but unintentional oversight from the NASS. 

The Council wish to thank the entire Veterinary Community for being proactive and highly sensitive to the progress of the profession and wish to assure you all of our commitment to move this great profession to the highest standard.  God bless you all.

Protocol, Distinguished members of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, esteemed colleagues, and honored guests, ladies and gentlemen, good morning. I feel very honoured, delighted and privileged to address you today as I come to the end of my tenure as the 12 th President of the VCN. Today, I am filled with a sense of pride, gratitude, accomplishment and an absolute privilege to serve as the President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria. I am honored to have had the opportunity to lead this esteemed organization and profession as the first female President of VCN. It was indeed a great journey in the last 5 years full of beautiful memories with great achievements but of course not without challenges. Veterinary Councils of Nigeria and South Africa Collaborate for a Smoother Future

The Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) and the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) held an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, led by VCN President, AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju, mni, Dr. Nandipha Ndudane, President, SAVC and SAVC Registrar/CEO Mr. Mongezi Menye. The discussions focused on key areas of collaboration for the advancement of veterinary medicine in both countries. Reciprocity and Cross-Border Collaboration A central topic of the meeting was reciprocity – the mutual recognition of veterinary qualifications. The goal is to streamline the process for veterinarians to practice in both Nigeria and South Africa.
