COVID - 19 LOCKDOWN ORDERS - TESTIMONIALS



You will recall that the President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, CP. Aishatu Abubarkar Baju, who also doubles as the Commissioner of Police, Force Animal Branch (FAB), gave a directive to allow all Veterinarians and Para Veterinarians, Poultry products and feeds, Livestock Medicine and vaccines etc be allowed free movement during this lockdown crisis to save the livestock industry from a total collapse. Glad to provide various feedback across the country on the tremendous progress that is being made due to this directive.

Good morning ma,
FAB Ogun Command is calm. Tour of inspection to all the checkpoints in Ogun State started yesterday to monitor the level of compliance of our men to the directive on freedom of movement of all food items, poultry products, other farm products and movement of essential duty-workers. Area Command Otta was the first point of call, almost all the check points were visited yesterday even with the DPO Otta division. In the course of the tour 2 vehicles at different locations carrying animal feed that were held by policemen were released through my intervention. One of the lorry belongs to Amobyng feedmill, Oyo and second belongs to one feedmill in Otta. The policemen at these various checkpoints we're further lectured on d subject in the signal issued by IGP - CSP (Dr) Tajudeen Abati.

Good morning ma, grateful be informed that in compliance with the above order and directive, a vehicle with reg LSR 211 XZ loaded with old layers that belongs to one Dr Kelvin and others was allowed to pass with other trucks carrying perishable goods because our prompt response to their distress calls, otherwise area is calm

All our operations in Delta State was almost completely grounded due to the lockdown order. We reached out to the Veterinary Council President, CP. Good morning ma, FAB Ondo Command is calm. I have been contacted by some Vets with respect to your directive to ensure they were not disturbing during the Shops/Cities Lockdown, I assured them that no problem, the Command is aware of the signal, while I also shared it with the DVS... Otherwise no complaints.

I explained the role of veterinarians in preventive measures in respect of zoonotic diseases and he was very impressive. We have quite a handful of these messages and feedback come in on a daily basis and we appreciate the leadership of the Council, Her Majesty, CP. Aishatu Abubakar Baju for showing the needed courage and also being proactive in ensuring we don’t have a total collapse of the livestock industry.

Veterinary Council of Nigeria Inducts 120 Veterinary Para-Professionals to Combat Quackery
